zkCredits docs
How $ZKC trading taxes become private AI credit, and how to claim and use them.
Overview
Every buy and sell of $ZKC pays a tax in ETH. After the 20-minute launch window, 45% of it is shared among holders in proportion to their balance and recorded in the token contract. You claim your share into a zkAPI note: a private prepaid balance in the Ethereum Foundation / OpenAnonymity zkAPI vault. Each chat request proves you own a funded note without saying which one, so the model provider never learns your wallet.
- Your unclaimed share sits in the token contract and never expires.
- A claimed note expires 30 days after the claim. Claim what you'll use soon.
- The claim is public (your wallet funded a note). The chats are what stay private.
- Tax schedule: 50% at launch, halving the remaining drop every 3 minutes (26.5% at 3 min, 14.75% at 6 min, 8.9% at 9 min), and 3% from minute 20. Over those 20 minutes, in a straight line, the split moves from dev 50% / OpenAnonymity 1% / holders 24.5% / buyback 24.5% to dev 5% / OpenAnonymity 5% / holders 45% / buyback 45%. Afterwards the tax can only be lowered, the owner can split the rest between holders and the burn-only buyback, the dev share can be set between 0% and 5% (never higher), and OpenAnonymity between 0% and 10%.
- Buybacks: the buyback share (24.5% at launch, 45% after the window) fills a pot that can only buy $ZKC and burn it. Buybacks run from launch, 0.05–0.5 ETH at a time, after sells at least that large (one per block).
- OpenAnonymity donation: its share of every tax goes to The Open Anonymity Project's zkAPI treasury (the address their own vault names). Anyone can trigger the payout.
- Supply: 90% in the pool at launch, liquidity locked forever. 5% to the OpenAnonymity treasury, 4% to vitalik.eth and 1% to the dev, all in the launch block. No wallet can hold more than 2% for the first 10 blocks.

All rewards accounting and claims happen in the token contract on Ethereum. Everyone can check them on Etherscan.
Claim your taxes (in the app)
- Open the app and press Connect wallet in the top bar. It shows your claimable ETH. Use the wallet that holds your $ZKC, on Ethereum mainnet.
- Click the wallet pill (or switch to zkAPI and open Private balance).
- Under Fund from $ZKC rewards, enter an amount or press Max, then Claim to private balance.
- Sign the free message. It derives your private note key and sends nothing.
- Confirm the claim in your wallet. You send 0 ETH; you only pay gas, which is higher than a normal transaction because the private vault updates its records.
When the claim is mined, the app saves the note in your browser and your private balance appears.
Gas fees: there is no minimum claim, but each claim costs more gas than a normal swap, because the private vault does extra bookkeeping. The app shows the estimated network fee next to your amount. If it's a large share of what you're claiming, wait until you've earned more or gas is lower.
Chat
Pick a model and start chatting. Each session gets a short-lived, capped key paid from your private balance. Your browser proves the balance covers it without revealing which note it is.
Restore on a new device
Open the app on the new device and press Restore with wallet. Signing the same message rebuilds the same note key, and the app finds your note on-chain. This works for a balance you haven't spent from yet. Once you start chatting, the latest balance is a server-signed state kept in that browser, so keep using the same browser.
Withdraw
In Private balance, choose Withdraw. Mutual close is fast: the zkAPI server co-signs. The escape hatch needs no co-signature: start it, wait 24 hours, then finalize. What's left goes to the address you choose.
Your funds without our site
The zkCredits website is a convenience, not a gatekeeper. Your rewards, claims and private balance live on Ethereum, not on our servers.
- Unclaimed rewards are always safe. They're held by the token contract and never expire. If our site disappeared, they would still be there.
- Claiming is a public contract function. Anyone can call it directly, for example from Etherscan once the contract is verified. No permission from us is needed.
- Your private balance is tied to your wallet signature, not to our site. Any copy of the zkCredits app can rebuild it with Restore with wallet. The app runs entirely in your browser; we hold none of your keys or data.
- Chatting and quick withdrawals use the zkAPI service run by OpenAnonymity with the Ethereum Foundation, not us. The escape-hatch withdrawal is enforced by the vault contract itself.
Safety notes
- The note-key signature is a key. Only sign it in the zkCredits app. Anyone holding that signature can spend your notes.
- Use a regular wallet. Smart-contract wallets are refused because their signatures can change, which would make restore impossible. EIP-7702 wallets are fine.
- One private balance per browser. Use or withdraw it before claiming again.
- Check what you confirm. A claim sends 0 ETH from your wallet. If your wallet shows ETH leaving, reject it.
- Unaudited code. The contracts and app have not been audited. Use amounts you can afford to lose.

FAQ
Why does a claim cost more gas than a swap?
The private vault does extra cryptographic bookkeeping on every deposit. Every zkAPI deposit costs about the same, whoever makes it.
Can I claim as plain ETH?
Only dust, and only if the owner turns it on. The contract caps it at a ceiling fixed at deploy. Rewards are meant for private AI credit.
What if the claim says the path is stale?
Someone else deposited into the vault first. Nothing was lost. Try again.
